The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County (“BXDA”) is charged with the twin goals of ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice for the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community. By “Pursuing Justice with Integrity,” the BXDA places a focus on assistance for crime victims while simultaneously ensuring fairness to defendants. Moreover, the BXDA aims to balance the need to seek appropriate punishment for certain crimes while recognizing when punitive measures do not adequately advance justice. In furtherance of this mission, the BXDA seeks experienced and enthusiastic Trial Preparation Assistant, Level II (TPA II) to assist Appeals Bureau Assistant District Attorneys with post-conviction matters.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Retrieve and copy court and prosecution files, while coordinating follow-ups with other bureaus to obtain outstanding files.
- Prepare and deliver documents for postal service mailing.
- Provide clerical support to paralegals and legal staff, including data entry, filing, and case management.
- Help maintain various Appeals Bureau databases.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college required by the state.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
- Ability to work independently and effectively under deadlines
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with court staff, agency staff, and external agency staff
- Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment
- Desire to contribute to the success of the Appeals Bureau

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
