Position Summary
The Round Lake Area Park District is seeking an enthusiastic and inclusive group fitness instructor to lead Zumba Gold or similar low-impact, high-energy, music driven, choreographed fitness classes designed for active older adults and beginners. This role focuses on creating a welcoming, supportive environment that promotes movement, entertainment, and social connection through rhythm.
We are looking for a commitment of one weekday morning. Additional classes could be added in the future.
Responsibilities
Lead safe, engaging, low-impact group fitness classes (e.g., Zumba Gold, low-impact dance fitness, chair-assisted fitness, or similar)
Provide movement options and modifications to meet varied ability levels
Create a positive, inclusive class atmosphere for participants of all fitness backgrounds
Monitor participant safety and respond appropriately to individual needs
Communicate with recreation staff regarding attendance, equipment, and program needs
Qualifications
Current group fitness certification (Zumba Gold, AFAA, ACE, SilverSneakers, or similar) preferred
Experience teaching older adults, beginners, or special populations strongly preferred
Knowledge of low-impact movement and exercise modifications
CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain)
Friendly, encouraging teaching style with strong interpersonal skills
