Quick Summary

Zonal Marketing & Agronomy Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies to promote Anglo American's products in India, while ensuring the efficient operation of the company's mining operations.

Job Description

Anglo American is a leading global mining company, and our products are the essential ingredients in almost every aspect of modern life. Our portfolio of world-class competitive mining operations and undeveloped resources provides the metals and minerals that enable a cleaner, greener, more sustainable world and that meet the fast-growing consumer-driven demands of the world’s developed and maturing economies.

We are constructing a state-of-the-art underground mine to enable the extraction of Polyhalite – a unique multi-nutrient fertiliser – along with the necessary infrastructure both above and below ground that will be required for transport, processing, and distribution.

POLY4 is our flagship multi-nutrient fertiliser product. Made from polyhalite, it contains four of the six macro-nutrients and many micronutrients that are essential to plant growth. It allows farmers to maximize their crop yield, increase quality and improve soil structure with one simple product.

Join us as a Zonal Marketing & Agronomy Manager, where you will play a key role in developing and delivering the commercial, marketing, and agronomy agenda that enables the successful execution of our India regional sales strategy. This includes a near‑term focus on advancing the India Polyhalite Development Plan, with the flexibility to support other regions as needed.

This role is central to connecting activities across our India team, ensuring strong regional sales execution, and supporting local distributors - most notably IFFCO.

The Zonal Marketing & Agronomy Manager is an in‑country regional role supporting multiple zones and requires the ability to work across diverse crops, channels, and agronomic environments. While the role will have a primary area of focus, it also calls for adaptability to shift priorities based on evolving business needs.

Key accountabilities include:

• Define, agree, and ensure adherence to regional commercial, marketing, and agronomy standards and processes.
• Build and maintain strong cross‑functional relationships with global Sales, Technical, Product Development and Agronomy teams.
• Act as a brand ambassador for Marketing & Agronomy within the commercial team and the wider Anglo American Group.
• Ensure all relevant customer information (Grower, Channel, Influencer) is collected and consolidated to inform customer segmentation and targeting for POLY4 campaigns.
• Lead and coordinate large‑scale customer and Key Buying Factor (KBF) surveys, including engagement with external agencies, briefing, results analysis and insight generation for product positioning, brand equity measurement and value‑based pricing.
• Monitor and report competitor activities, pricing structures, market behaviour and commercial implications; recommend proactive or corrective actions for POLY4 campaigns.
• Develop the regional marketing plan in alignment with global marketing, commercial and agronomy teams.
• Ensure effective integration between marketing, sales and other support functions.
• Propose final product positioning and message maps by crop, customer segment and sub‑area.
• Support the customer segmentation process to build actionable customer target groups aligned to crop strategies.
• Define and maintain relevant customer touchpoints.
• Integrate campaign plans to ensure full alignment on targets, approach and execution.
• Support the regional head in defining measurable KPIs and year‑end evaluations to inform planning for the next season.
• Contribute to a structured marketing and agronomy plan by channel and offtake partner (with a focus on India), ensuring clarity across the Crop Nutrients Commercial team.
• Ensure campaign plans are practical, cost‑conscious and aligned with priority market sales objectives.
• Develop, implement and track POLY4 campaigns in assigned geographical areas.
• Translate customer offers (B2B, channel, influencer, grower) into region‑specific delivery plans where relevant.
• Ensure campaign objectives, KPIs, value propositions and product positioning are clearly communicated to sales and marketing teams.
• Collaborate closely with Agronomists and Market Intelligence Analysts.
• Where relevant, implement and coordinate demos, CRM entries, pre‑launch activations, harvest days and targeted customer or influencer events.
• Deliver campaigns in line with the approved marketing budget and regional plan.
• Liaise with external marketing agencies for content development and execution, where required.
• Work with the Customer Data Specialist to maintain accurate CRM records for target customer groups and apply insights to support POLY4 campaigns.
• Ensure continuous alignment with HQ Marketing and support cross‑regional best‑practice sharing.
• Troubleshoot campaign execution issues and drive workflow improvements.
• Act as a trusted operational partner to the regional team and Global Marketing.
• Lead and coordinate B2B training initiatives, ensuring content meets customer needs.
• Track customer needs, assess capability and readiness to execute POLY4 campaigns and volumes, and escalate corrective actions to the regional head as required.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture (or a related field).
• Experience in agronomy, marketing and sales operations, business development, campaign management, or similar roles within the fertilizer, specialty fertilizer or biologicals industry.
• Experience working with Indian fertilizer manufacturers, specialty fertilizer companies, or distribution partners.
• Ability to work with a minimum viable product (MVP) mindset—comfortable starting with essentials and building capability over time.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret agronomic, market and customer insights.
• Ability to work effectively across diverse crops, channels and regional environments.
• Proven ability to collaborate across functions and manage multiple stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills, able to translate technical and agronomic information into clear, actionable insights.
• High levels of organisation, accountability and adaptability in response to changing business needs.
