Hiring Range: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour - IMRF Eligible
Hours: M-F, Varies based on the needs of the department
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Youth Manager; the Youth Department Assistant is responsible for assisting with administrative tasks and planning/executing Youth programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Knowledge of Youth Department programs including Kids Club, Day Camps, Teens, and Youth Special Events.
Ability to effectively communicate with parents, coworkers, and children.
Assist with the interview process including screening applications, scheduling interviews, participating on the interview team, etc.
Acts as a liaison to Youth Department staff and other departments.
Assist Youth Manager with monitoring and updating programs in RecTrac.
Organize and coordinate camp field trips.
Performs supply purchasing and processes invoices.
Assist in other functions as needed for the Youth Department.
Must attend staff meetings.
Must work Kids Club sites when needed.
Performs the job safely and in compliance with district policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 21 years of age.
General office skills including computer knowledge and basic math skills.
Good knowledge of pertinent safety precautions.
Communication and organizational skills.
Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees.
Ability to follow direction, apply constructive criticism and work with minimal supervision.
Must possess excellent customer service skills.
Must be organized, efficient and punctual.
Willingness to learn and be a team player.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma
Three years of general office experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above
