Job Description
Global Kids’ (GK) mission is to educate, inspire, and mobilize youth to become global citizens who are positively engaged in the world and are prepared for their future. Over its 36-year history, the organization has engaged thousands of young people in its’ innovative youth development programs that promote global awareness and action; building their agency to affect change in their community and beyond.
Our mentoring program aims has the following goals:
Promote positive changes in youth lifestyle towards themselves, others, and their future through goal setting, group discussions, and role modeling
Assist youth in exploring college and careers opportunities
Help youth cultivate an ethic of service to their communities
Support student academics through highlighting positive studying habits
Check in with site director to share a post-session reflection
Qualifications
Commit to 7 months as a group mentor for high school students, working with at most 6-8 students at a time.
Attend two sessions a month (~90 minutes a session)
Attend once a month field trip with mentees
Must be over the age of 21 to be eligible to be a mentor
Must demonstrate professionalism and positive communication
Demonstrate an understanding of a mentor – mentee relationship and its boundaries
Must pass DOE background checks

Mentors are asked to indicate their availability and preferred site.
High School for Medical Professions, Canarsie, Brooklyn:
Mon, Wed, & Friday :2:30 PM to 4:30 PM,
High School for Public Service, East Flatbush, Brooklyn:
Mon & Wed, 2:45 PM to 5:00 PM
High School for Global Citizenship, Crown Heights, Brooklyn:
Mon, Tues, & Wed 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Fri: 1:15 PM to 2:30 PM
Mentors will receive a monthly travel stipend of $85 dollars.
