The Role
The Yard Worker is responsible for supporting daily operations within the company yard by performing a variety of hands-on and physical tasks. This role plays an important part in ensuring loads are properly prepared for shipment and that yard operations run smoothly and safely. Duties include load assembly and disassembly, organizing equipment, and maintaining a clean and efficient work environment. This position requires a strong sense of accountability, dependability, initiative, and a willingness to support the broader operations team.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Perform duties locally within the company yard, including load assembly and disassembly to support shipment preparation

Disassemble loads and assemble cargo in accordance with operational and safety requirements

Organize yard machinery, load equipment, and cargo to ensure an efficient and safe work environment

Install tires and perform basic equipment preparation for shipment

Maintain cleanliness and organization of yard(s), buildings, and equipment

Prepare, review, and check paperwork related to load requirements and shipment details as needed

Assist other departments with the movement of deliveries within the company yard and office

Follow all safety procedures and company policies while working in the yard

Support additional operational tasks as required

Complete other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

Forklift experience considered an asset

Experience working in an outdoor environment for approximately 90% of the time

Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation

Previous experience in a manual labour role preferred

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work

Proven accountability, reliability, and strong work ethic

Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision

Ability to perform repetitive tasks with attention to detail

Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
