Our Northstar Access yard in Ottawa is where we house and store our gear and equipment. Our Yard Workers play a very important role in facilitating the movement of our scaffolding gear to our customers who rent the material or have us build it for their project. We are looking to expand our yard team through an opening for a Yard Shipper/Receiver.
Ideal candidates will have strong, self-directed work ethic and work well with others. You must be able to work in various environmental conditions as this position works primarily outdoors. There is also heavy lifting involved due to the nature of our products. Ultimately, we are looking for reliable and motivated people who don’t shy away from hard work.
We are currently hiring second-shift workers, with expected hours of work being 9:30 am to 6:00 pm.
Position Responsibilities:
Loading/unloading delivery vehicles in a safe manner with frequent lifting up to 50lbs
Order picking, ensuring accuracy
Counting, stacking, and organizing scaffold gear
Safety checks of gear and equipment
Keeping yard clean and organized
May operate company vehicle to deliver gear to customer or project sites
Understand and adhere to the company’s safe work practices and regulations
Job Requirements:
Forklift license required
G class driver's license required
Previous work experience in an Order Picker or Material Handler role preferred
Strength and ability to lift items up to 50 lbs
Punctual and consistent with reliable means of travel to/from work
Be a quick learner and take direction from others
Be a Team Player; work well with others and train new members as required
Good communication skills
Good organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills
Be willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Scaffold knowledge not necessary, but an asset
