Job Description
Business Consultants play a vital role in the functional and processing aspects of implementing Oracle Retail software. They utilize their expertise in both the retail industry and the functionalities of Oracle Retail software to guide projects effectively. OLR works with several prominent retailers both locally and internationally, which may occasionally require some travel.
As a Business Consultant, you will also provide direction and mentorship to your team, offering essential support to the Project Manager while maintaining regular communication with clients.
Regularly assist in the definition of project objectives, scope, organization, timelines, and overall approach
Regularly consider and define implementation and integration alternatives
Collaborate with the OLR functional team consistent with this Project Charter and the Project Plan
Constantly act as a contact for the system functionality advice and provide coaching to the client business process team users
Frequently define the system configuration requirements, identify gaps and recommend system modifications and process changes to optimally satisfy business requirements using the Oracle Retail suite of applications.
Continually document functional requirements for modifications and support design process for the client
Escalate project issues that cannot be resolved within his/her sphere of influence and/or authority to the Project Manager as needed
Regularly assist the client Business Process Team Leader to develop the strategy and plan the work required by the Business Process Team to support implementation
Intermittently perform go-live assessments to determine readiness of the system as well as client and support teams
Constantly maintain detailed knowledge of the functional capabilities and integration points of the Oracle Retail solution
Continually maintain an in-depth understanding of a subset of the following retail concepts: merchandising, inventory management, warehouse management, store operations, planning/forecasting, replenishment, and pricing
Assist with the documentation of ‘As Is’ business processes and the development of ‘To Be’ business
Occasionally schedule and participate in workshop sessions for clients to address the business process requirements with Oracle Retail functionality
Ensure follow up and resolve issues arising from workshop sessions and/or related to business processes and system functionality intermittently
Intermittently drive test plan definition, creation and execution
Facilitate the logging, reporting, and resolution of application issues intermittently
Support development of functional product knowledge for clients and OLR team members on an on-going basis
Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field.
8+ years of experience in Retail IT or consulting.
5+ years’ experience with Oracle Retail implementations.
Significant hands-on retail operations experience preferred.
Deep understanding of Oracle Retail modules (RMS, RPM, ReSA, SIM, RIB, etc.).
Proven record in large-scale software implementations.
Strong consulting, negotiation, and leadership skills.
Excellent communication and client management capabilities.
High attention to detail, initiative, and accountability.
Financial awareness relating to project budgets and delivery timelines.
