Xpera is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, analytical, and adaptable Workplace Investigator to join our team, based out of Burnaby, British Columbia. Reporting to the Regional Manager, this role is ideal for a professional who thrives in dynamic environments and is committed to conducting fair, thorough, and objective workplace investigations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse caseload across the Lower Mainland, with occasional travel to other regions within British Columbia as required. Working closely with clients, employees, and key stakeholders, the Workplace Investigator will play a critical role in conducting workplace and regulatory body investigations in alignment with policies and legislation, and delivering clear, defensible findings.
What You Will Do:
Conduct detailed investigations of individuals in response to client requests through the use of video recorded interviews using a trauma-informed approach. Interviews include the Complainant, Respondent, and any relevant witnesses.
Gather and review documentation and evidence gathered during the conduct of each investigation, including e-mails, records, policies and procedures, electronic evidence, video and photographic evidence, etc.
Conduct investigations on various workplace related matters, including bullying and harassment, sexual harassment, discriminatory harassment and code of conduct/policy violations.
Report findings in a clear, logical, coherent, and unbiased manner to clients in accordance with relevant guidelines, as well as Xpera standards and best practices.
Conduct intellectual property investigations via site attendances.
Document files accurately with file activity and all information gathered, including video recordings.
Provide status updates to clients as required.
Maintain current on industry standards and participate in staff meetings and training for information sharing purposes.
Attend court or legal proceedings as required.
What You Will Bring:
A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and relevant work experience with preference given to candidates with a minimum of 5 to 7 years of workplace investigation experience.
Education or certification in investigative interviewing, as well as trauma-informed interviewing.
Experience in labour relations and workplace investigations involving bargaining unit employees preferred.
Knowledge of all levels of the Canadian court system, insurance law, and privacy legislation is an asset.
A valid Private Investigator License issued by the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General.
A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record with a reliable vehicle currently licensed for business/commercial purposes.
Ability to collect, analyze and disseminate investigative results in a timely manner to an appropriate audience for the purpose of meeting clients’ needs.
A strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially with Word and Excel.
Exceptional communication and written skills.
An ability to work under pressure to meet demanding timelines while maintaining focus on the task at hand.
