Working Student - AI & Computer Vision for Space Navigation

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We want you, as a talented Working Student for AI & Computer Vision for Space Navigation, to help us in developing, training, and validating AI-powered frameworks for our missions in Space.

Key Responsibilities

In your capacity as a Working Student for AI & Computer Vision for Space Navigation, your duties will include (depending on your knowledge and interest):

• AI Model Development & Benchmarking

• Implementation of Vision-Based- Navigation algorithms

• Help integrate physical constraints into deep learning models

• Implement features for Explainable AI

• Support the training of AI models on cloud infrastructure

What we would love to see from you

In the role of a Working Student for AI & Computer Vision for Space Navigation, ideally, you will have the following:

• Currently enrolled in a master's program in Computer Science, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM field

And one of the following:

• Initial practical experience with deep learning frameworks

• Proficient in Python; knowledge of C++ is considered a plus

• Strong interest in autonomous docking, orbital mechanics, and the unique challenges of the space environment

• Good command in German and English
