Job Description
We are looking for a Structural Steel Foreman to lead and actively participate in the erection and installation of structural steel on commercial and industrial construction projects. This role is a working foreman position, meaning the individual will both supervise crews and perform hands-on ironwork in the field. The position plays a critical role in ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project specifications. This is a strong fit for someone with deep field experience who can lead by example and drive productivity on-site.
Responsibilities
• Lead and supervise ironworker crews on structural steel erection projects
• Perform hands-on installation of structural steel, including beams, columns, and decking
• Read and interpret structural drawings, blueprints, and erection plans
• Coordinate daily work activities, crew assignments, and jobsite priorities
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with OSHA and company standards
• Monitor productivity, quality, and progress to keep projects on schedule
• Communicate with project managers, superintendents, and other trades on-site
• Identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, and installation challenges
• Oversee rigging, hoisting, and equipment usage to ensure safe operations
• Maintain accurate daily reports, job logs, and documentation
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in structural steel erection or ironwork
Prior experience in a foreman or lead role supervising field crews
Strong knowledge of steel erection processes, rigging, and safety practices
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Experience working on commercial or industrial construction projects
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work at heights and in physically demanding jobsite conditions
