REPORTS TO: Director of Career and Workforce Development

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm

 

COMPENSATION: $38.30/hour + DOE + Benefits, Non-Exempt Permanent Full-Time Position

SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

The Workforce Development Coordinator performs a variety of administrative tasks, including general administrative support to all the VEWFD staff and faculty.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Assists with the communication between the WFD Training Office, other departments, North Slope Borough, businesses, contractors and community organizations.

Completes and processes training requests, contracts, student registration forms, attendance sheets, business office documents and other forms required for enrollment and timely billing.

Tracks and maintains electronic filing system for classes, reviews and compiles registrations, student evaluations, and expenses associated with classes.

Works with the Workforce Director to provide direction and advice to students, prospective students, parents, contractors, and the general public concerning short-term training scholarships, including the application process, eligibility criteria, disbursement of aid and responsibilities.

Collaborates with Recruitment on outreach activities and recruiting events to expand the prospective student pool.

Provides instructional support to WFD instructors, including ordering teaching supplies, assisting with grading, and coordinating travel logistics for village-based trainings.

Works in cooperation with the Admission Officer along with other college personnel to facilitate admission and enrollment processes for Vocational Education degree programs.

Maintains communication with perspective Vocational Education students from beginning of admissions and registration process through program completion.

Recruits students for Workforce Development (WFD), Vocational Education, Driver’s Education, and Heavy Equipment Operations (HEO) classes, ensuring all participants meet prerequisite requirements prior to enrollment.

Assists with the paperwork and coordination for contractors.

Assist in all logistics and projects required for Workforce Development trainings including proctoring.

Develops applicable training reports and provides training information to appropriate requesting parties.

Screens calls and schedules appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements.

Supports WFD administrative needs include ordering and filing when needed.

Maintains a high level of confidentially with records and information.

Occasionally necessary to work outside of normally scheduled business hours.

Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.                                                      

Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Demonstrated professional work experience in Industrial Safety, Workforce Development, Adult Vocational Technical or other short term training programs.

Experience in writing and/or editing reports, Contracts, and Procurement.

Ability to comprehend the College admissions process and student short term training scholarship eligibility requirements.

Demonstrated Customer Service experience: Internal or External.

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity software.

Ability to independently following workflow processes from start to completion.

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to adjust to shifting deadlines and priorities

Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.

Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.

Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.

Ability to support Iḷisaġvik College’s mission.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/EXPERIENCE [Required]:

Associate degree OR substitute for 3 years of professional demonstrated administrative work experience.

Minimum of three years of combined experience in the duties outlined above.

Valid Alaska Driver’s license or Alaska Identification Card (DMV issued).

 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Minimum of five years demonstrated administrative work experience in a professional office environment.

Valid driver’s license.

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Life Insurance - Ilisagvik College offers Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage through Guardian Life to employees at no cost to the employee in the amount of $100,000/per benefit.
