Position Overview
We are seeking a Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to join our growing practice. Defense-side experience preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will work closely with a collaborative team of attorneys and support staff, handling a mix of administrative and court-based work, including appearances before the Industrial Commission along with Court related proceedings.
Key Responsibilities
Defend employers and insurers in workers’ compensation matters
Manage a full caseload from inception through resolution
Appear at hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials
Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and settlement documents
Advise clients on claims strategy, exposure, and risk management
Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, and claims professionals
Collaborate with partners and support staff to ensure efficient case handling
Qualifications:
1-3 years minimum prior experience in handling Ohio workers’ compensation matters, preferably on the defense side.
Must also have experience handling general discovery matters, including taking depositions, interviewing witnesses, responding to written discovery, and preparing motions.
Exceptional attention to detail, strong writing and legal research skills, and a strong work ethic.
Entrepreneurial growth mindset for client development and practice management.
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
Active license and in good standing with the Ohio Bar
Strong litigation, negotiation, and legal writing skills
Ability to manage deadlines and high-volume caseloads
