Wind Farm Control Software Engineer (m/f/d)

YOUR TASKS:

Design and define wind farm control functionalities in line with customer requirements and international grid codes
Develop and maintain software solutions for the Nordex Acciona Wind Farm Controller
Validate control solutions both in laboratory environments and real wind farms (remote commissioning and testing)
Optimize control strategies and system performance across wind farm fleets
Lead complex technical developments, from concept to deployment
Develop and optimize communication interfaces between control systems and external platforms
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Control & Grid Code, and Laboratory Test teams
Provide 3rd-level technical support to ensure the performance and reliability of the global wind farm fleet

YOUR PROFILE:

University degree in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
Strong expertise in PLC programming (IEC 61131-3) and MATLAB/Simulink.
Solid understanding of PLC architectures and industrial automation environments.
Strong analytical and abstract thinking skills.
In-depth knowledge of industrial communication protocols, such as:
Profinet, Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 60870-5-101/104, DNP3, OPC UA, Bluecom.
Proven experience in control algorithms, automation networks, and system integration.
Practical experience with renewable power plants and grid code compliance.
Very good command of English (spoken and written). Knowledge of German or Spanish is a strong plus.
At least 2 years of professional experience in a similar role.
Experience with IEC 61400-25 (wind power communication standards).
Background in embedded control systems, code generation, and real-time applications.
Exposure to hybrid energy plants (BESS, PV, Hydrogen).
Independent, reliable, and structured working style.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative team mindset.
Comfortable working in international and multicultural environments.
Willingness to travel occasionally.
