Job Description
ABOUT US | Whiteshield is a global advisory firm operating at the intersection of strategy, public policy, and digital transformation. We partner with governments and leading enterprises to design and deliver initiatives that drive economic competitiveness, digital enablement, and long-term growth.
Our work combines strategic advisory with hands-on execution. We support senior decision-makers in navigating complex regulatory, economic, and technological environments, translating ambition into structured programmes, delivery frameworks, and measurable outcomes.
Unlike traditional consultancies that focus solely on recommendations, we remain engaged through implementation; ensuring transformation is not only designed but realized.
WHERE YOU FIT IN | We’re building data platforms and architectures that sit at the core of national and enterprise transformation programmes, powering decision-making, AI systems, and digital services at scale.
Data is not a byproduct here; it is foundational. From designing interoperable data ecosystems across institutions to enabling AI-ready infrastructure, we work at the intersection of engineering, analytics, and strategy.
We’re looking for a Data Architect who can operate across both vision and execution. You will define how data is structured, governed, and activated; ensuring it is reliable, scalable, and ready to drive real-world impact.
You’re comfortable working in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, translating ambiguous requirements into clear data models, architectures, and standards. You understand how modern data platforms support AI, analytics, and operational systems and how to design them accordingly.
You’ll work closely with engineers, analysts, policymakers, and client stakeholders to build data ecosystems that are not only technically sound, but also usable, trusted, and aligned to strategic outcomes.
WHAT YOU WILL DO |
• Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing data architectures across cloud and hybrid environments
• Define enterprise data models, standards, and governance frameworks to ensure consistency and interoperability
• Architect modern data platforms (data lakes, warehouses, lakehouses) to support analytics, AI, and operational use cases
• Lead client engagements as a trusted advisor on data strategy, architecture, and platform design
• Translate business and policy objectives into structured data solutions and pipelines
• Establish data governance practices including data quality, lineage, cataloguing, and access control
• Design data integration strategies across multiple systems, APIs, and external data sources
• Enable AI and advanced analytics use cases by ensuring data is structured, accessible, and production-ready
• Collaborate with engineering teams to implement pipelines, orchestration, and real-time/streaming architectures
• Balance long-term architecture vision with rapid delivery in dynamic environments
OUR CORE TECH STACK |
• Data Platforms: Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, BigQuery, Snowflake
• Databases: Postgres, MSSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch
• Processing: Spark, Python, SQL
• Cloud: Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Orchestration: Airflow, Prefect, or similar
• DevOps: CI/CD, Docker, Terraform
• Analytics & BI: Power BI, Tableau, Looker
Requirements:
WHAT YOU’LL BRING |
• 7+ years data architecture with deep Oracle and SQL Server expertise
• Informatica PowerCenter (or equivalent ETL platform)
• Change Data Capture (CDC) for incremental and near real-time sync
• Complex source-to-target mapping across large schema landscapes
• Bidirectional sync with conflict resolution strategies
• Data quality profiling, validation, and reconciliation frameworks
• Data governance, lineage tracking, and metadata cataloguing
Good to have:
• Domain-driven data modelling (database-per-service patterns)
• Liquibase or equivalent schema change management
• Physical schema design from logical/conceptual model
WHAT WE VALUE |
• Curiosity and action: You take initiative and explore new ideas
• Empathy and clarity: You’re a strong communicator and collaborator
• Delivery and impact: You’re focused on outcomes, not just outputs
• Passion and adaptability: You bring energy, depth, and flexibility to your work
Benefits:
Meaningful impact
Your work helps shape products used at national scale - enabling people to access services, opportunities, and support that make a real difference in everyday lives.
Creative freedom
You will have room to explore ideas, test approaches, and raise the bar for design quality - even in complex, regulated environments. We value thoughtful experimentation and encourage new ways of working.
High-calibre collaboration
You’ll work alongside talented people across policy, data, design, and technology - bringing different perspectives together to solve complex problems well.
Flexibility that works
We operate in an outcome-driven, remote-friendly way that respects individual working styles. Trust, autonomy, and balance are core to how we work.
Supportive culture
You will join a team that values respect, inclusion, and wellbeing - where people are encouraged to do their best work without burning out.
