The Opportunity

We are looking for a resourceful, strategic self-starter who is passionate about storytelling for a role leading West Coast Communications at Akido. This role will help drive key initiatives as the team focuses on elevating Akido's brand, its programs and its executives as the category leader in using AI to support care delivery. This is an opportunity to advise and shape one of the most exciting brands in healthcare, owning west-coast media relations and the internal communications/corporate culture. This individual will also play a pivotal role in leading executive comms, supporting our founders as they speak across global platforms and events.

What you’ll do

• Lead internal communications & culture. Develop the strategy and cadence for sharing information across the company - establishing baseline for metrics across existing and new channels, such as our monthly all company gatherings, org-level meetings, newsletters, cross-functional business planning, on-sites and more.

• Lead west-coast media relations. Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists across tech, healthcare, public health and business sectors. Travel to San Francisco and Los Angeles on a somewhat frequent cadence.

• Work closely with the Chief Communications Officer and team to drive brand awareness for Akido and its leaders at the national and global level. Although our provider network is currently on the US coasts, we're building a global brand with a robust partnership pipeline for care delivery on every continent. Our thought leadership and brand reputation goes well beyond our footprint today and continues to grow.

• Play a pivotal role in securing and coordinating speaking engagements for company leaders using an evolving framework that relies on business criteria to ensure highest impact events.

• Serve as point-of-contact for regional partners, non-profits, academic institutions, etc. Bring your creative chops to the table as we think up unique ways to leverage our dynamic networks and unlock new market opportunities.

Who you are

• 10-15 years experience in PR, media relations, internal communications or related specialty preferred. Pitching is in your DNA. You're always thinking about making connections across people/places/products.

• Excellent communications skills, strong media relations capabilities and a track record for securing placements preferred.

• Experience managing internal communications in a high-growth/global organization preferred. Bonus if this includes health/tech startups.

• Interest in how breakthrough technology -- like artificial intelligence -- can transform legacy industries. Hunger to stay on top of the latest developments across global news, the healthcare industry and tech.

• Experience in technology and/or healthcare communications.

• Events communications experience.

Salary range
$150,000—$200,000 USD
