Soluroc is building a talent pipeline for future Welder/Fitter opportunities within our Sudbury Fabrication Shop. While there is no immediate vacancy, we are seeking skilled trades professionals who would like to be considered for upcoming needs.

Position Summary

The Welder/Fitter is responsible for fitting, fabricating, and welding metal components and assemblies in accordance with technical drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role supports shop production activities and ensures that all work meets safety, quality, and productivity expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Fabrication & Welding

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications

Fit and assemble metal components for welding

Perform MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding as required

Operate fabrication equipment including grinders, torches, drills, and saws

Inspect welds to ensure structural integrity and quality compliance

Assist in layout and measurement of materials

Shop Operations

Maintain a clean and organized work area

Perform routine equipment checks and report maintenance concerns

Support continuous improvement and productivity initiatives

Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production targets

Health & Safety

Follow all Soluroc safety policies and shop procedures

Wear required PPE at all times

Participate in safety meetings and training

Report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately

Qualifications & Experience

Welder/Fitter certification or equivalent experience preferred

2+ years of fabrication and welding experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting

Proficiency in MIG welding (TIG and Stick considered an asset)

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols

Strong attention to detail and quality standards

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Experience operating overhead cranes or forklifts considered an asset
