What you’ll do and what success looks like in this role:

Lead and own the development of insurance propositions, bancassurance strategy, and partnership collaboration models aligned with WeLab Bank’s growth ambitions and overall business objectives.

Champion collaboration with insurance partners to optimize Life and General Insurance offerings, delivering superior service quality for WeLab Bank’s retail customers. 

Accelerate customer engagement and conversion for Life and General Insurance products, ensuring seamless integration into sales team or/and digital banking channels and driving sales efficiency.

Build and inspire a high-performing team, setting clear goals and accountability across sales, and operational excellence.  

Partner with internal teams across Digital, Marketing, Business Intelligence, and Tech to deliver a best-in-class, customer-centric experience. Own revenue growth through data-driven cross-sell and upsell strategies, leveraging insights to shape product and distribution initiatives.

Enforce robust risk governance by collaborating with the second line of defence to implement operational frameworks, risk controls, and performance monitoring systems for this highly regulated business. 

Co-create and innovate a Digital Product Sales Model with insurance partners that aligns with partnership vision and drives scale. 

Act as the Responsible Officer (RO) for the bank’s insurance intermediary license, ensuring full compliance with Insurance Authority requirements.

Lead regulatory compliance with Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Insurance Authority standards, including licensing and governance requirements.

Own financial performance, set annual targets, and report progress to senior management and regulators.

What is required and what we’re looking for:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Insurance; Master’s degree preferred.

Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance (mandatory in Hong Kong).

Must meet the Insurance Authority’s criteria to be appointed as Responsible Officer, including relevant experience and qualifications.

Minimum 10 years of experience in financial services, with at least 5 years in senior management roles within bancassurance or insurance distribution.

Deep understanding of insurance products, regulatory requirements, and digital banking ecosystems. Extensive experience in life, protection, and health products, acting as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for long-term insurance and driving awareness among internal stakeholders.

Proven track record in building bancassurance businesses from the ground up or leading large-scale insurance partnerships.

Strong strategic and commercial acumen with exceptional negotiation and stakeholder influence skills.

Inspirational leadership and team-building capabilities in a fast-paced, digital-first environment.

Familiarity with HKMA and IA regulations and compliance frameworks.
