Web Development Intern (Summer 2026) – Boulder Heavy Industries
Are you looking for a hands-on internship where you can gain real-world Web Development experience working on real production websites?
Boulder Heavy Industries is passionate about developing the next generation of technology professionals through immersive, high-impact internship programs. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Web Development Intern to join our team for Summer 2026.
This paid internship is full-time (5 days per week) during the summer and is onsite at our Boulder, CO office. Candidates must have reliable transportation to the Boulder office.
A Day in the Life:
As a Web Development Intern, you will gain valuable, marketable skills by engaging in and assisting with:
Supporting the rebuild and refresh of the Boulder Heavy Industries website
Implementing front-end updates using HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript
Improving layout, responsiveness, and styling consistency (CSS-heavy work)
Implementing UI updates based on UX/design direction and stakeholder feedback
Testing changes in a staging environment before production release
Supporting ongoing updates for additional web properties (templates, case studies, page updates)
Collaborating with internal teams and Business Units to support web requests
You will contribute meaningfully to real web initiatives while learning how design, development, testing, and deployment work together in a professional environment.
Primary Internship Project:
The Web Development Intern will support a comprehensive refresh of the Boulder Heavy Industries website and related web properties. This includes:
Enhancing layout structure and styling consistency
Improving responsive design and mobile-first performance
Implementing UI improvements based on UX direction
Testing updates in staging environments
Learning how updates move through review and deployment processes
This project provides exposure to real-world development workflows, including staging vs. production environments, code review processes, and safe deployment practices.
The successful candidate will:
Be a junior or senior pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, or a related field
Have strong foundational knowledge of HTML and CSS (CSS proficiency is especially important for this role)
Understand responsive design principles (mobile-first layouts, breakpoints, Flexbox/Grid)
Have basic understanding of JavaScript
Have basic understanding of Git/version control (or willingness to learn quickly)
Demonstrate strong attention to detail and ability to implement designs accurately
Communicate progress clearly, ask questions, and work collaboratively
What Will Get Our Attention:
Experience with React or another front-end framework
Familiarity with WordPress or other CMS platforms
Knowledge of accessibility best practices (semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, contrast)
A portfolio, GitHub profile, or sample projects (classwork acceptable)
Strong interest in front-end development and user experience

Compensation: $18.00–19.00/hour
