Shape the future of water infrastructure with AECOM. We’re looking for a driven and collaborative Project Engineer to join our expanding Water/Wastewater team in Buffalo, NY. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects across the Northeast while enjoying the flexibility and support of a company that values your well-being.

Your Impact

• Lead and contribute to water, wastewater, and water resources projects in Buffalo and throughout the Northeast.
• Prepare and review design calculations, engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Develop technical reports and memoranda that inform and guide project decisions.
• Conduct field investigations and site reconnaissance to support design and planning.
• Assist with project management tasks including scope, schedule, budget tracking, and QA/QC compliance.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative, inclusive team environment.
• Support proposal development, cost estimating, and project scheduling.
• Prepare project work plans and health and safety documentation.
• Represent AECOM in client meetings and technical presentations.
• Build strong client relationships through direct, face-to-face engagement.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a focus on water, wastewater, or water resources plus four years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Proven ability to produce engineering deliverables including reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Strong technical foundation in civil, water, wastewater, or water resources engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in water/wastewater projects.
• Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Strong organizational skills and a proactive, client-focused mindset.
• Demonstrated ability to make independent engineering decisions and lead project components.
