AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a talented and experienced Water Resources Engineering Discipline Leader to support water resources related planning, design, and construction projects throughout the New York, New Jersey, and greater Eastern US Region. This position is a part-time/on call role.  
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the planning, design, construction, and operation of civil, structural and/or geotechnical design and review of major water project including levees, dams, floodwalls, seawalls, gates and gate-wells, pump stations, conveyance channels.  The candidate will serve as an advisor to the design teams and will perform technical reviews to verify that design documents are in compliance with applicable design standards including USACE engineering regulations and manuals.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: 
• Serve as advisor to design teams.
• Perform technical reviews for compliance with applicable design standards including USACE engineering regulations and manuals.
• Assess trends in the marketplace and support business development activities related to water projects, including strategy, approach, and engineering fee.
• Mentor and develop junior water process and design staff.
• Participate in local and national professional organizations, including attending and presenting at conferences.
 
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering + 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience/or education. 
• Professional Engineer (PE) license. 
• Experience with the planning, design, construction, and operation of civil, structural and/or geotechnical design and review of major water project including levees, dams, floodwalls, seawalls, gates and gate-wells, pump stations, conveyance channels.
Preferred Requirements:
• Master's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering is highly preferred.
• 10+ years of extensive related project experience.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to be client-facing.
• Strong knowledge of water design codes, standards, and regulations.
• Strong communication skills in coordinating with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public to accomplish assigned objectives.
• Strong commitment to ensuring safe project execution.
• Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to work well in a team environment.
• Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods.
• Self-starter and ability to take initiative.
• Experienced technical writing.
