Water Microbiology Laboratory Technician

The purpose of this post it to complete, to the required quality standards, the preparation of water samples and to assist in the efficient day-to-day operation of the laboratory. 

Please note this is a part time weekend role, working 15 hours per week - Saturday and Sunday 07:00 till 15:00. 

Full training for this role will be provided, no previous laboratory experience necessary.

• Preparation and analysis of water samples utilising good laboratory practice.
• Preparing and dispensing of consumables. 
• Ensure samples received are handled in accordance with documented procedures, including attention to temperature control, storage and maintenance of sample integrity. 
• Maintenance of accurate and systematic records as detailed in the quality procedures.
• Perform calibrations, daily checks and other quality related tasks as required.
• Work with the team to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement.
• Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.
• Report any anomalies or concerns to direct report.
• Undergo training and follow laboratory SOPs and Safe Systems of Work.
• Comply with Health and Safety procedures keeping the working environment clean and tidy
• Maintenance of laboratory fittings and equipment as directed.
• Ensure personal protective equipment is worn in accordance with the Health & Safety policy.

 

• Maths, English, Science at GCSE grade C or above, or equivalent qualification. 
• Experience in a fast paced working environment. 
• Awareness of good laboratory practices would be of advantage. 
• Enthusiasm, energy and a driven outlook.
