Pherson seeks a highly qualified part-time, contractor Intelligence Training Instructor with subject matter expertise in Watchlisting and All-Source Intelligence Analysis to join our adjunct instructor team and support a U.S. government agency in the Springfield, VA area. The selected adjunct instructor will deliver specialized intelligence training to government personnel, ranging from 2–3 day virtual workshops to two-week, in-person courses, primarily held in the DC Metropolitan Area.
NOTE: TS/SCI Clearance Required
Work Environment
Courses are delivered onsite, virtually, and occasionally at offsite locations around the country
This is a part-time contract role with potential for additional assignments and recurring opportunities
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality instruction on topics related to:
The Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment (TIDE)
The Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB)
Watchlisting Guidance Authority, policy, and legal framework
Screening and vetting procedures across the U.S. government
Watchlisting nomination and validation processes
Definitions of terrorism, watchlisting standards, and related IC terminology
Teach both virtual and in-person courses
Travel occasionally to support offsite course delivery
Evaluate student performance and provide clear, actionable feedback
Stay current on watchlisting policy, authorities, and interagency coordination practices
Qualifications
TS/SCI clearance required
Minimum of 10 years of intelligence analytic expertise, preferably within Homeland Security, law enforcement, or counterterrorism mission spaces
Minimum of 5 years direct operational experience in watchlisting, to include: nominating and validating watchlist entries; and applying legal and policy guidance in an operational environment
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field (e.g., Intelligence Studies, National Security, Political Science, Education)
Strong communication and presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to adapt instruction to adult learners with diverse operational backgrounds
Preferred Skills
Intelligence Educator or Instructor Certification from a U.S. government agency
Familiarity with current interagency watchlisting procedures, including relevant USG policies
