AECOM is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Operator to join our Water & Wastewater team in Burnaby, BC. This is a unique opportunity to step into a unique operations role working on high-profile municipal wastewater infrastructure projects that support the growth and environmental stewardship of communities across British Columbia. 
This is a 12-month temporary contract position with the potential for extension, based at a client site.
Responsibilities include:
• Work together with internal and external staff and equipment suppliers to conduct performance testing of wastewater treatment pilot plants at different operating conditions
• Conduct regular operation/maintenance tasks of the pilot plant equipment such as condition checks, chemical refill, lubricate equipment, equipment cleaning, instrument cleaning and calibration, etc.
• Collection and preparation of samples for lab test
• Conduct bench testing of water samples
• Coordinate with pilot plant suppliers to adjust pilot plant operation parameters
• Coordinate with pilot plant suppliers and Client O&M staff to carry out maintenance work for the plant
• Work together with other team members to troubleshoot problems encountered during operation of the pilot plants such as clearing blockages at valves
• Download and distribute operation data from pilot plant PLC
Minimum Requirements
• BA/BS in Chemical or Civil engineering or a combination of  education and 6+ years of related experience in Wastewater treatment operations
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
Preferred Qualifications
• Ability to be registered as a P.Eng with EGBC within 6 months
• EOCP Certification in Wastewater Treatment 
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Strong organizational and documentation skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to act calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• Ability to meet physical demands of the role (lifting 50 lbs, standing, kneeling, climbing, confined space entry, etc.)
• Knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and safe work procedures
• Commitment to fostering a respectful, safe, and inclusive work environment
