STATUS: Full-time, exempt
LOCATION: Sandusky, OH
SALARY: $80,000-$90,0000/year based on interview outcome and overall experience

Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Wastewater Operator to manage and operate our industrial wastewater treatment system in Sandusky, Ohio. This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing treatment performance, and maintaining equipment used in wastewater processing—particularly within a protein processing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and monitor wastewater treatment systems, including DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) units, centrifuge, pumps, control systems, and associated equipment
Perform routine system checks, sampling, testing, and process adjustments to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Manage chemical handling and dosing, including coagulants, flocculants, and pH adjustment chemicals
Maintain accurate records of system performance, chemical usage, and regulatory reporting
Oversee chemical inventory management, including ordering, storage, and safe handling practices
Troubleshoot operational issues and perform minor maintenance on equipment
Coordinate with maintenance teams and external vendors as needed
Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and environmental standards
Basic Qualifications:
Valid Wastewater Operator Certification (Ohio preferred or ability to obtain)
3+ years of experience operating wastewater treatment systems
Experience in industrial wastewater, preferably within the protein processing or food processing industry
Working knowledge of DAF systems, pumps, and chemical treatment programs
Strong understanding of wastewater chemistry and treatment processes
Ability to read and interpret lab results and adjust treatment accordingly
Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with high-strength wastewater (e.g., protein, fats, oils, grease)
Familiarity with regulatory reporting and compliance (EPA, state agencies)
Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Industrial plant environment with exposure to chemicals, odors, and varying temperatures
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform routine physical tasks
Licensing & Special Requirements:
