Waste Water Apprentice or Operator I

The City of Thibodaux is accepting application online for the full time classified position of Waste Water Apprentice or Operator I. All application must be submitted online at the City of Thibodaux's website by Monday,April 13, 2026 no later than 12:00 (Noon). 

Requirements: At least 18 years of age. Work requires knowledge of a specific vocation, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with six months / one year of advance study or training past the high school or equivalency. Community college, vocational, business, technical or correspondence schools are likely sources. No experience required. A valid driver's license is required. Class III waste water certificate is preferred; however, the certificates may be earned on the job over a specific time frame. 

The purpose of this position is to treat waste water to make it safe to discharge for public use.
This is accomplished by operating and maintaining a variety of equipment, taking water samples,
and running tests. Other Duties include mowing the grass; cleaning the discharge sites; operating
a camera van; and maintaining the appearance of the sewage plant.

If the applicant does not have the proper certification, the applicant may be hired as a Waste Water Apprentice; however, if the applicant has a minimum of Water Treatment I Certifications, the applicant may be hired as a Waste Water Operator I. 

Waste Water Apprentice I this position is in pay grade 611. The minimum amount of this pay grade is $13.91 per hour.

Waste Water Operator I this position is in pay grade 615. The minimum amount of this pay grade is $17.70 per hour.
