The Warehouse Supervisor oversees daily warehouse operations, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods. This role involves managing a team, maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring safety compliance, and improving warehouse processes to optimize efficiency.
Daily Warehouse Operations:
Oversee Receiving, Storing, and Shipping:
• Supervise the accurate and timely receipt of incoming shipments, including verifying quantities and inspecting for damages.
• Ensure proper storage of goods, optimizing warehouse space and maintaining organization.
• Coordinate the picking, packing, and shipping of orders, ensuring they are processed accurately and dispatched on time.
Manage Workflow and Schedules:
• Plan and coordinate daily warehouse activities, assigning tasks to team members based on workload and priorities.
• Monitor workflow to ensure efficiency and adjust schedules as needed to meet operational demands.
Inventory Control and Management:
Inventory Accuracy:
• Maintain accurate inventory records in the Warehouse Management System (WMS), ensuring real-time updates for all inventory movements.
• Conduct regular cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Stock Replenishment:
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with procurement to reorder supplies and materials as needed to prevent stockouts.
• Ensure proper labeling and organization of inventory to facilitate easy retrieval and reduce picking errors.
Team Supervision and Development:
Staff Management:
• Lead, train, and mentor warehouse staff, providing guidance on best practices and operational procedures.
• Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and provide regular feedback to team members to drive continuous improvement.
Staff Scheduling:
• Create and manage work schedules, ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet operational requirements, including overtime management as needed.
• Handle time-off requests, attendance tracking, and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies.
Safety and Compliance:
Enforce Safety Standards:
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, conducting regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe material handling practices.
Training and Emergency Preparedness:
• Conduct safety training sessions for new hires and ongoing training for all staff to maintain a high level of safety awareness.
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans, conducting drills and ensuring staff readiness for potential incidents.
Requirements:
Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Additional certifications in logistics, supply chain management, or warehouse management are preferred.
Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
Technical Skills:
• Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other inventory management software.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
