Job Description
We’re opening a brand-new Voltex Distribution Centre in Melbourne toward the end of this year and we’re looking for a hands-on warehouse leader to take full ownership of day-to-day warehouse execution and help build a high-performing team from day one.
This is a Melbourne-first leadership role with real autonomy — you’ll help set up the site, hire the team, and establish the standards that will define the DC long term.
What you’ll do
• Run daily floor execution across receiving, picking, packing, dispatch and inventory flow; keep the operation on time and smooth during peaks.
• Lead and develop the team: set standards, coach performance, manage rostering, and address issues early.
• Own accuracy and inventory discipline (cycle counts, discrepancy resolution, reducing errors).
• Embed safety and compliance in partnership with the OHS Captain, maintain equipment and storage standards.
• Drive practical continuous improvement to remove bottlenecks and lift speed/quality.
• Key link between warehouse and Supply Chain / Customer Service.
• Report to the Operations Captain.
• Directly manage up to 6 people initially, growing to 10 over the next few years.
Requirements:
• Proven warehouse leadership experience across end-to-end floor ops (receiving → dispatch)
• Strong people leadership: coaching, standards, accountability, rostering/performance management
• Track record improving accuracy, flow, and team performance
• Safety-first mindset and confidence operating within OHS expectations
• Practical continuous improvement approach (standardise, simplify, uplift)
• Willingness to travel for onboarding. We’ll fly you to Adelaide for a paid 2-week immersion (home weekends), plus 1 week in Sydney — so you can launch Melbourne with proven systems.
Benefits:
This is a high-ownership role with real influence. You won’t be inheriting a rigid operation — you’ll be helping shape how the Melbourne DC runs.
• Paid onboarding immersion in ADL + SYD (all travel covered; home weekends)
• Stable roster / predictable hours
• Opportunity to shape layout, tooling and workflows as the site ramps up
• Clear growth pathway as the Melbourne DC scales
• Accessible location with parking available
