POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Position: Warehouse Assistant – Food Distribution Dept – FT - Regular - 100% Grant Funded

Pay Grade: NE4 Status: Non-Exempt/Bi-weekly pay Background Check: Extensive 
Hiring Range - $16.71 - $19.24 - $21.77 - Commensurate with Verified Qualifications

Indian Preference applies in accordance with Ordinance #15-600-02 

 

Summary: The position is responsible for providing access to the department’s services to the membership through the processing of program applications, answering questions, and ensuring an efficient operation from intake to completion.

Employment Qualifications: Minimum Necessary Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED, and

Work experience of one (1) or more years in a warehouse or receiving department, and

Technical skills of a beginner to intermediate user of MS Office software, computers, and office equipment.

Must have a valid driver’s license, maintained throughout employment and be insurable under the Tribe’s insurance policy.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist members in accessing services of department, providing referrals to other tribal programs or outside agencies as necessary.

Deliver monthly food orders to qualified participants households using the department’s delivery van.

Issues food commodities on a weekly, appointment-based schedule.

Records issuance and received commodities into Automated Inventory System (AIS).

Maintains inventory, reports inventory and stocks shelves/rotates stock as needed.

Operates hand operated lift truck for loading and unloading of commodities.

Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of work and complies with all applicable tribal, federal, or state laws and procedures.

All other position/department related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Physical Demands

Frequent sitting, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, or stretching is to be expected. The nature of the work also involves manual dexterity to operate office equipment and while keyboarding. An employee will need normal or corrected to normal range of sight and hearing and will carry work-related materials up to seventy-five (75) pounds. 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The work environment frequently changes from a climate-controlled environment, to one that is exposed for short periods to outdoor elements of heat, humidity, cold, wet, snowy, icy, and/or windy. The employee’s work schedule may periodically need to be flexible and adjusted according to business need. The employee must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations while remaining focused and professional, as well as be able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective. Occasional overnight or local travel will be necessary to attend meetings or trainings.

4.       Tribal Descendant (1st generation, biological parent must be a Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Tribal Member) – Birth certificate and a copy of parent’s tribal identification card.

5.       Non-preference – If not claiming Indian Preference, or if not applicable, please continue onto the application.
