DETAILS OF POSITION
Location: Vandenberg Space Force Base / Full-time: Monday - Friday / Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM / Starting Rate: $21.21 per hour
PURPOSE OF POSITION
VTC Enterprises has been supporting people with developmental disabilities since 1962. Part of fulfilling our mission includes providing individuals with community experiences to develop and promote their independence.
Under the direction of the VSFB Grounds Project Manager and the VSFB Trainee Development Coordinator, the Grounds Trainee Supervisor is responsible for the coordination, supervision, training, and evaluation of the Grounds worker crews assigned to the Space Force Base Grounds contract.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Provide instruction to Client Trainees served in the following grounds maintenance tasks per VSFB Grounds contract specifications:
The safe use of common grounds maintenance tools/equipment such as a string trimmer, blower, rake, hoe and/or shovel.
Removal of debris, loading and unloading supplies/equipment.
Maintenance of common grounds maintenance equipment.
Provide prompting necessary for job completion.
Ongoing training to ensure Client Trainees work quality meets contract specifications.
Director of Grounds Maintenance in selecting client trainees to work on the VSFB Grounds contract.
Works with Employment & Services Coordinator to ensure proper supports are provided to Client Trainees as needed.
Complete and maintain time keeping records for Client Trainees.
Evaluate training program and make suggestions for modification.
Prepare for and attend PCP and IDT meetings as scheduled.
Create, document, and track goals for each Client Trainee in consultation with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
Using SET-Works, document daily activities, report incidents (as required) and complete monthly reports for Client Trainees.
Complete tasks on the contract when the Client Trainee is unable to complete.
Completes Disabled for Work Checklist for Client Trainees upon hire and then annually.
Performs safety orientation with Client Trainees upon hire and then annually.
Checks in the VSFB airfield base tower daily prior to commencing work at the airfield, maintain contact with base tower personnel during the day and checks out with the base tower personnel at the end of the workday.
Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Experience in grounds maintenance or a related environment, one year of which must be in a supervisor capacity.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to write simple correspondence in English. Ability to remember oral or written instructions provided by others. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to Individuals served and other employees.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers and management. Interact diplomatically with the public. Foster a stimulating, accepting learning environment.
SELF-MANAGEMENT SKILLS: Perform effectively in environments with frequent workload changes and competing demands. Set priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out basic written or oral instructions. Ability to think through the consequences of a decision prior to making it. Ability to recognize an emergency situation and take appropriate action.
COMPUTER SKILLS: None.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Maintain First Aid, CPR and CPI Certifications. Complete Competency Based Training Series. Must have a valid driver’s license with an insurable record. Must have an insured vehicle available for use during the course of employment. Must obtain and maintain proper license in order to operate tractor on VSFB airfield.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Knowledge in grounds maintenance methods and techniques, manual/power tools, maintenance and minor repair of equipment, and contract analysis
Requirements
Must be able to meet and maintain requirements to obtain entrance onto Vandenberg Space Force Base.
Valid driver’s license with an insurable record.
An insured vehicle available for use during employment.
Must be willing and able to work up to 8 hours per shift.
Must be able to work in varying weather conditions, shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
