The Aparecio Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was designed as an economic development strategy to lift women out of poverty and as a community development approach to build the leadership capacity of low-income women. The Aparecio Foundation provides academic support and scholarship programs for high-potential, low-income women in public high schools through an eight-year multiple-mentor program.

This is a unpaid Volunteer / Intern position.
Aparecio Foundation seeks to increase the potential of actualizing its mission and vision on a continuous basis. The Mentor Program Development Consultant will assist with this goal by creating relationships, development of programs, and analysis of methods and models of mentoring. This position is also responsible for innovation and expansion of job scope and responsibilities as the both the foundation and position grow!
Description of Duties / Responsibilities:
• Establish and maintain relationships with other agencies and organizations in community to meet community needs and to ensure that services are not duplicated.
• Research currently existing mentor programs of similar kind in the Chicago area to learn their success and failure.
• Research Academia by conducting an analysis of different models of internships to see which ones are affective according to the studies that have been done.
• Compile the data and develop a framework for the mentor program
• Develop a framework of women to recruit for the organization/building mentor database.
• Develop curriculum for the mentorship program.
• Attend professional meetings, training workshops, and read publications on the field to enhance professional competence.
• Knowledge is defined as the acquisition of information stored in memory through experience and learning.
• Skills represent the practical aspect of knowledge. The implementation of knowledge in daily tasks that can be acquired or developed through training is termed as skill.
• Lastly, ability is characterized as the stable and abstract behavioral and cognitive capacity.
Education and/or Experience
• Bachelors Degree. Masters preferred.
• Have some work experience in a related field.
Knowledge Requirements
• Knowledge of principles, theory and methods of procedure of human behavior; individual differences in ability, personality and interests, learning and motivation.
• Knowledge of research methods - both quantitative and qualitative ones, how to conduct a research, analyze and interpret data.
• Knowledge of basic curriculum and training principles, development.
• Knowledge of organization culture, laws and codes to conduct mentoring in democratic process.
• Knowledge of the English language grammar, structure, rules of composition, meaning and spelling of words.
