Job Description

We are seeking a VoIP Calling Architect to join our growing communications product line. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of VoIP services, primarily utilizing Asterisk. This role also involves designing and developing high-performance Python backend code and integrating cloud telephony features with Twilio and Telnyx. Collaboration with product and engineering managers will be essential to deliver end-to-end features and launch reliable, scalable calling solutions.

Technical Skills

Core Technical Expertise:

• VoIP Protocols: In-depth knowledge of SIP, WebRTC, RTP, H.323, and other relevant VoIP and media protocols.

• Networking: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, UDP, QoS mechanisms, LAN/WAN networking, routing, and switching.

• VoIP Platforms: Practical experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Avaya Aura, and open-source solutions like Asterisk.

• Troubleshooting:Knowledge and experience in troubleshooting audio issues in client environments such as VDI, VPN, and MPLS networks.

• Security: Awareness of VoIP security best practices, including encryption and firewalls.

• Cloud Solutions: Experience with cloud-based VoIP platforms and integration with services like AWS or Azure.

Required Experience:

• VoIP System Development/Maintenance: 5+ years of experience building or maintaining production VoIP systems using Asterisk, FreePBX, or FreeSWITCH.

• Scalable Service Development: 5+ years developing scalable services in Python (using frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, or Django).

• Voice/Messaging APIs: Hands-on experience with Twilio and/or Telnyx APIs for voice and messaging.

• Database Skills: Solid SQL proficiency.

• Version Control & CI/CD: Proficient with Git and modern CI/CD pipelines (Docker, GitHub/GitLab, Jenkins, etc.).

• Experience working with Java, Spring Boot, and ReactJS to bridge backend and frontend communication layers.

Key Responsibilities

• VoIP & Asterisk

• Design dial‑plans, IVRs, call routing, SIP trunking, and monitoring
Optimize performance, security, and high availability of the Asterisk stack

• Backend Development (Python & Java)

• Build micro‑services, REST/gRPC APIs, background workers, and data pipelines

• Telephony Integrations

• Design and Implement voice and messaging flows using Twilio and Telnyx APIs (Programmable Voice, Messaging, Webhooks, etc.)

• Quality & Delivery

• Understand the current code base, and build new features.

• Designing the features on aggressive timelines with minimal iterations.

Nice‑to‑Have

• Node.js for ancillary services

• Cloud deployment on AWS or GCP (EC2, Lambda, S3, IAM, CloudWatch)

• Front‑end basics (React or plain JavaScript) for simple dashboards

• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and Agile delivery practices

• Certifications :Relevant industry certifications are highly valued, such as:

• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Collaboration

• Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Collaboration

• Microsoft certifications for platforms like Teams Voice.
