Position : VMware Automation Systems Engineer

Duration : Contract

Location : JACKSON, MI

Job Description:

7+ years on managing and maintaining Enterprise VMware environments

Strong VMware ESX 5.x and 6.x knowledge – VMware Certification (VCP) is a plus

4+ years on IT Automation such as Puppet / Chef / or other IT Automation Tools

· In-depth knowledge of VMware vRealize Automation 6.x

· In-depth knowledge of VMware vRealize Orchestrator 6.x

· In-depth knowledge of Puppet, Chef or other Automation tools

· Strong knowledge of VMware vRealize Operations Management 6

· Setup custom build profiles

· Integration of Puppet with VRA

· Strong Troubleshooting skills

· Set up and create new workflows

· Installation and configuration of Puppet platform

· Strong scripting skills – Power CLI or PowerShell Scripting

· Develop and troubleshoot Power CLI or PowerShell scripts

· Knowledge of VMware SRM or other DR solution for Virtual Infrastructure

· Working knowledge of Linux and Windows Operating Systems

· Possess excellent written and communication skills

· Ability to work independently and within a team

Key Areas of Responsibility:

· Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation to ensure availability of services and Infrastructure in our Production & Dev environments 

· Install, configure and manage a highly available and scalable virtual infrastructure 

· Provide planning, installing, configuring, and upgrading support for vRealize Automation & vRealize Orchestrator  

· Establish and maintaining service levels; perform basic troubleshooting; monitor vRealize Automation & vRealize Orchestrator  

· Manage the health of the vRealize IaaS environment and perform upgrades and maintenance as outlined by the service contract

· Participate in Enterprise testing for integration of proposed new technologies to be included in the Enterprise design and develop test-related documentation 

· Participate in discussions for next generation of virtualization with cross functional teams between engineering, networking and architecture 

· Develop & keep up to date internal documentation for key systems and services

· Participate in scalability and growth decisions

· Assist the Development team’s efforts in troubleshooting complex issues
