Job Description

This role would help lead our award-winning visuals team in the development and creation of immersive visual stories and interactive tools. The candidate should be able to not only realise a designers vision but also be able to offer better approaches and help create a system that can scale as the team grows.

This team is at the heart of Daily Mails growth strategy and you would help push the team further in the creation of agenda setting work. As a senior developer you would help lead the junior members of the team and set an example to them in the creation of digital-first news graphics.

What we are looking for:

• Ability to work with designers to create brilliant interactive stories

• Indepth knowledge of front end languages (React)

• Ability to convert design ideas into fully realised web stories

• JavaScript fundamentals

• Develop responsive, mobile-first web pages that function perfectly across desktop, tablet, and mobile screens.

• Experience with animation libraries (GSAP, ScrollTrigger)

• Strong CSS skills (complex layouts, motion, micro-interactions)

A person should be:

• Able to handle stress in a fast paced environment

• Work well under pressure/time constraints

• Be open and approachable

• Collaborate with wider news room (Editors, picture desk, video desk)

• Work with AI team to help improve workflows and delivery
