Visual Merchandising Associate (Chicago)

Proper Cloth is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Visual Associate to bring our Chicago Showroom to life. In this role, you’ll create a visually compelling, organized, and on-brand shopping environment that highlights our key categories, seasonal collections, and stocked products. You’ll play a critical part in ensuring the space is not only beautiful but also intuitive and sales-driving—for both customers and showroom associates.

Key Responsibilities:

Visual Merchandising

• Ensure the showroom reflects Proper Cloth’s best sellers and current seasonal styles across Shirts, Casual Pants, Tailored Clothing, and Stocked Products
• Receive and merchandise new arrivals in real time as they go live on the website
• Create cohesive displays by fabric or style, making it easy for both associates and customers to navigate the space
• Maintain all on-floor product in pristine condition—steamed, organized, and styled on appropriate hangers or props
• Dress mannequins with an eye for detail, fit, and style to represent a mix of all-season staples and seasonal highlights
• Track inventory status and promptly remove out-of-stock items from the floor, updating back-end tools accordingly
• Proactively swap in similar in-stock alternatives to maintain a full and compelling visual experience

Reporting & Tools

• Leverage product reporting tools to keep top-selling items featured in high-impact zones
• Use ClickUp to manage and execute visual merchandising tasks with accuracy and consistency

Key Outcomes:

• The showroom remains clean, cohesive, and on-brand—both front and back of house
• Floor displays consistently reflect what’s featured on our site
• Merchandising directly contributes to meeting or exceeding revenue-per-customer goals
• Showroom appointments run more efficiently due to accessible and well-presented product displays

Requirements:
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in retail visual merchandising or display design
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work seamlessly with teammates, managers, and cross-functional partners
• A meticulous eye for detail and strong organizational skills
• Creative problem-solving ability, especially when adapting to product sell-through or shifting inventory
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and manage physical tasks related to showroom upkeep
• Familiarity with Proper Cloth’s brand, products, and digital presence
• A polished, professional appearance aligned with the Proper Cloth aesthetic
• A growth mindset and openness to accept and implement feedback
