AI Fund is seeking a Visiting Engineer to join a 12-week build residency in Taiwan, working alongside Andrew Ng and the AI Fund internal builder team to validate and build MedBuddy into a real product. MedBuddy is an AI-powered medication management and chronic care platform designed to serve aging populations.
If the residency results in company formation, the Visiting Engineer may become a founding engineer or take a leadership role in the new company.
Requirements:
• Strong back-end skills, particularly with Python.
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code) and understanding of best practices for effective use.
• Proven track record architecting, implementing, and deploying scalable AI-powered systems.
• Ability to write scrappy, disposable code for fast prototyping and clean code for scalable products.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
• Fluent in Mandarin and English.
Nice to Have:
• Experience building consumer health, medication management, or chronic care products.
• Familiarity with voice-based or conversational UI design for non-technical users.
• Experience gathering user feedback from elderly or low-digital-literacy populations.
• Knowledge of data privacy and compliance frameworks for health data (HIPAA, Taiwan PDPA, or equivalent).
• Experience applying computer vision techniques (e.g., medication identification via photo).
• Contributions to open-source GenAI projects or tools.
• Familiarity with messaging platform integrations (LINE, WhatsApp).
• Experience building for aging populations or accessibility-focused products.
