The Opportunity
Quest Audio Visual is hiring a Full-time Video Technical Advisor to serve as our internal subject-matter expert for all video systems and technologies. As a core member of the Planning & Technical Services team, you will ensure that every video solution is technically sound, operationally efficient, and execution-ready.
This role is ideal for an experienced video professional who enjoys system design, mentoring others, solving complex technical challenges, and elevating technical standards across live event productions.

The Role
Compensation: $65K - $85K Yearly
Benefits: Comprehensive health and dental benefits after successful completion of a 3-month probationary period.
Work Type: Full-time, in person, Located at our Toronto headquarters.
Start Date: ASAP – the position is currently open and ready to be filled.
Training and Integration: On-site training for this position.
Responsibilities and duties:
Technical Planning & System Design
Build complete video equipment lists, signal paths, power requirements, and rigging needs for live events
Design, validate, and review system diagrams to ensure proper signal flow, format compatibility, latency management, and redundancy
Develop floor plans, CAD drawings, and production schedules for technical accuracy
Recommend system improvements and upgrades using industry best practices
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
Serve as the primary internal resource for video-related technical issues
Provide pre-show validation and onsite technical support when required
Diagnose and resolve signal, networking, routing, and display performance issues
Collaboration & Technical Advising
Work closely with Production Managers, Account Executives, Warehouse, and Operations teams to ensure flawless execution
Support quoting and planning from a technical perspective
Mentor technicians and project managers on video systems, workflows, and best practices
Assist sales teams by translating complex technical concepts into clear, client-facing solutions
Documentation & Reporting
Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including:
Signal flow diagrams
Power and rigging requirements
Show books and deployment plans
Post-event technical reports
Innovation & Technology Tracking
Stay current on emerging video technologies, formats, and broadcast standards
Evaluate new equipment and recommend improvements to workflows and inventory
Support continuous improvement in equipment utilization and technical excellence
Must-haves
3+ years of experience in video-related live event production or system design
Deep understanding of professional video systems, routing, switching, LED processing, networking, and broadcast technologies
Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Excellent organizational skills and time management
Ability to multitask and operate effectively under tight deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools
Calm, solutions-oriented approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving
Nice-to-Haves
Diploma or formal education in audiovisual technologies
Experience mentoring or leading technical teams
Familiarity with inventory optimization or technical standards development
Interest in long-term technical leadership or operations roles
