Video Production Manager, B2C Portfolio
Location: San Francisco, CA — Full-Time, In Person
Reports to: Global Lead / Executive Producer
Dotted line: Editorial Director, Consumer Portfolio
About Us
Foundry is a global portfolio of technology and business media brands that includes our anchoring B2C titles: PCWorld, Macworld, and Tech Advisor. Between these three publications, our editors, writers and video creators work to inform and delight curious tech users. We cover everything from PCs, Macs, phones, gaming, accessories and gadgets to security, privacy, productivity, and streaming—and much, much more.
The Role
We are looking for a hands-on Video Production Manager to own the production workflow for PCWorld, Macworld, and Tech Advisor. Working with our Editorial Director and Supervising Producer, you will oversee the production of long- and short-form videos, including hands-on editing yourself; manage a pool of freelance video editors; and ensure every video meets content standards. This is a newly created position, so you’ll have the opportunity to shape the production workflow and build your own job description in a fun, fast-paced creative environment.
Responsibilities
• Oversee the production of long- and short-form consumer tech videos, including explainers, rants, product demos, event coverage, and social cuts.
• Serve as the primary production liaison for creator-journalists on PCWorld, Macworld, and Tech Advisor. They produce the raw content, then you help bring it to life.
• Build and manage a pool of freelance video editors. Write clear briefs for their editing assignments, and package up our creators’ assets for handoff.
• Edit long- and short-form video yourself, setting the standards for all freelance editors, and constantly responding to what’s successful on social platforms.
• QA all incoming A-roll and B-roll from our creators, as well as the resulting cuts from our freelance editors.
• Create social cuts of longer-form video and podcasts, generating verticals for YouTube, TikTok and Instagram from our horizontals.
• Provide coverage for fellow Video Production Managers during high-volume periods, and when others are on vacation.
• Track the workflow of everything above on Monday.com, and process invoices on our internal accounting system.
• Work with the Editorial Director and Supervising Producer on brainstorming new video formats, social opportunities, and tentpole series, as well as planning event coverage for CES, iPhone launches, Mobile World Congress, etc.
• Work with the Editorial Director and Supervising Producer on maintaining a monthly calendar of all social videos produced by our team of creator-journalists.
Qualifications
Required
• 5+ years in a senior production role in a digital-first or social-first media environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, with experience in both long-form edits and shorter social cuts.
• Experience handling footage from a wide range of capture devices and skill levels.
• Proven track record building and managing a freelance editor pool.
• Fluency across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram/Facebook Reels, LinkedIn and other social platforms.
• Experience managing production budgets in a freelance-first model.
• Proficiency with Monday.com or comparable project management tools.
• Strong editorial instinct for consumer technology.
Preferred
• Background in consumer tech, gadget, or business media.
• Experience with content repurposing workflows.
• Motion graphics experience, and proficiency in After Effects, Photoshop, and other Adobe Creative Cloud tools.
• Event production experience at major tech trade shows
