Video Production Intern (Fall 2026/Winter 2027)

The Opportunity

The Ottawa Senators are seeking an energetic, detail-oriented intern to join our Digital Communications team as a Video Production Intern. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with an NHL franchise and become fully engaged in the business of a major league sports team. 

As the Video Production Intern with the Ottawa Senators you will play an important role supporting the content team working closely to support all video and production needs while gaining first-hand experience capturing all the excitement of our club and its events.  This is ideal for someone interested in digital platforms, structured content systems, and web/app operations in a professional sports environment.

Term: This is a full-time internship placement from September 2026 – April 2027 (8 months)

Key Responsibilities

Capture video assets at all Ottawa Senators home games, including occasional assistance from Ottawa during road games.

Capture video assets at various community, marketing, and partner events.

Capture video assets at various stadium and facility events.

On-site presence with weekly in-office hours for video editing, production support, and digital asset management (DAM) organization.

Assist content team during studio shoots, on-ice shoots, and during press conferences.

Propose creative ways to create content across social media platforms.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (what we look for)

Must be enrolled in a post-secondary program requiring a placement for credit

Strong communications skills in English, Bilingualism is an asset

Knowledge of the Ottawa market and the NHL is preferred

Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed based on the schedules of the team.

Knowledge of camera, lens, and lighting equipment

Knowledge of the Adobe Suite of products

Additional comfort and experience with still photography a plus

Experience with drone videography a plus, licensed pilots preferred

Self-motivated with time management skills and the ability to multitask

The position will be required to lift and stack boxes in excess of 40 lbs.

Strong writing, editing, and copywriting skills.

Knowledge of social media platforms, trends, and content management tools.

Creative mindset with an eye for engaging content and brand alignment.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Proactive, team-oriented attitude with a passion for sports and marketing.

Must live in, or be willing to relocate to, Ottawa-area

What We Offer

This internship offers an annual salary of $37,000, pro-rated for the duration of the term, along with hands-on, real-world experience in the sports industry. Interns receive two weeks of vacation accrued monthly and pro-rated to the length of the internship, as well as paid sick leave. The organization also has an active social committee that hosts multiple events throughout the year, and interns are welcome to attend these social engagements, along with opportunities to volunteer at signature events with the Senators Community Foundation.
