About the Role

As an AI Tutor specialized in video games, you will contribute to xAI's mission by training and refining Grok to excel in video game concepts, mechanics, and generation. Your work will directly impact Grok's capabilities in producing engaging, fun, innovative video games, enabling users to explore AI-assisted game design and fostering advancements in interactive entertainment through accurate annotations and iterative testing.

Responsibilities

You will use proprietary software to provide labels, annotations, and inputs on projects involving game mechanics, narratives, and design elements. You must support the delivery of high-quality curated data that enhances AI's understanding of gaming principles and outputs. In this effort, you will collaborate with technical staff to develop tasks that improve AI's ability to generate and refine video game content. You’ll also work with technical staff to improve annotation tools for efficient workflows.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated high proficiency in Game Design, Computer Science, Interactive Media, or a related field.

• Experience in game design, particularly indie game development, with a portfolio of created or contributed projects.

• Demonstrated strong judgment in video game quality, including appreciation for mechanics, storytelling, and player experience.

• Ability to rigorously test and evaluate AI-generated video games for functionality, creativity, and engagement.

• Proficiency in analyzing gaming content, with strong skills in gameplay critique and iterative improvement.

• Strong ability to reference game development tools, trends, and examples for precise annotations.

• Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and creative skills.

• Commitment to developing AI that advances video game innovation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in AI-assisted game development, playtesting, or roles at indie studios.

• Has dedicated a lot of time to playing video games.

Location & Other Expectations

• This position is based in Palo Alto, CA, or fully remote.

• The Palo Alto option is an in-office role requiring 5 days per week; remote positions require strong self-motivation.

• If you are based in the US, please note we are unable to hire in the states of Wyoming and Illinois at this time.

• We are unable to provide visa sponsorship.

• Team members are expected to work from 9:00am - 5:30pm PST for the first two weeks of training and 9:00am - 5:30pm in their own timezone thereafter.

• For those who will be working from a personal device, please note your computer must be a Chromebook, Mac with MacOS 11.0 or later, or Windows 10 or later.

Compensation

$45/hour - $100/hour

The posted pay range is intended for U.S.-based candidates and depends on factors including relevant experience, skills, education, geographic location, and qualifications. For international candidates, our recruiting team can provide an estimated pay range for your location.
