We’re working on behalf of a well-established, self-perform heavy civil contractor in Central Florida that is expanding its leadership team.
This is a newly created VP of Operations role focused on leading and scaling regional construction operations across multiple active projects. The company has a strong backlog and needs a hands-on operations leader who can bring structure, accountability, and consistency across the business.
What You’ll Own
• Oversee multiple concurrent heavy civil projects across a defined region
• Lead and manage Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams
• Drive schedule, cost control, and production performance across all jobs
• Own regional P&L, forecasting, and cost-to-complete
• Allocate labor, equipment, and subcontractor resources across projects
• Ensure compliance with local municipalities, counties, and DOT requirements
• Identify operational gaps and implement processes, systems, and reporting improvements
• Act as the escalation point for field and project-level challenges
Requirements:
15+ years of experience in heavy civil construction (underground utilities, site development, roadway)
Proven experience overseeing multiple projects simultaneously across a region
Prior experience as:
• VP Operations
• Director of Operations
• Regional Operations Manager
• OR Senior PM overseeing multiple teams/projects
Experience managing Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams
Background in a self-perform contractor environment (crew + equipment driven)
Strong understanding of:
• Production tracking
• Equipment utilization
• Field-driven execution
Experience working across multiple municipalities or jurisdictions
Familiarity with Florida or Southeast construction markets strongly preferred
What This Role Is Not
• Not a single-project leadership role
• Not an engineering or consulting position
• Not an EPC / pipeline / energy-focused role
