Vice President of Emergency Services
Houston, TX (Northeast Metro Area)

• Employment Type: Full-Time, Executive Leadership
• Schedule: Monday–Friday
• Base Salary Range: $143,000 – $214,000
• Annual Incentive: 17.5% target bonus with up to 150% upside based on performance
• Sign-On Bonus: Available on a case-by-case basis
• Relocation Assistance: Available on a case-by-case basis
• Reports To: Chief Nursing Officer
Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Vice President of Emergency Services to provide enterprise-level leadership for a complex, multi-site emergency services service line within a large acute care environment.
This executive role is responsible for strategic planning, operational performance, clinical quality, patient experience, workforce engagement, and financial stewardship across adult emergency services, pediatric emergency services, and freestanding emergency departments.
The ideal candidate brings recent Director-level Emergency Services experience within a high-volume, trauma-capable environment and has demonstrated success leading large, multidisciplinary teams through growth, transformation, and performance improvement.
Responsibilities
Executive Leadership & Strategy
• Lead the development and execution of emergency services strategic and business plans
• Identify growth opportunities, service differentiation strategies, and operational enhancements
• Partner with executive leadership and physicians to advance emergency services performance and market positioning
Clinical Quality, Safety & Throughput
• Establish and sustain evidence-based standards of emergency care
• Drive patient safety initiatives, clinical quality improvement, and regulatory compliance
• Lead patient throughput strategies including capacity planning, patient flow optimization, and admission/discharge coordination
Patient Experience & Service Excellence
• Foster a culture of patient-centered care and service excellence
• Leverage patient experience data and benchmarks to drive improvement initiatives
• Ensure physician alignment, engagement, and ease of practice within emergency services
People Leadership & Talent Development
• Build and lead a high-performing emergency services leadership team
• Drive workforce engagement, leadership development, succession planning, and retention
• Coach leaders to deliver accountability, operational excellence, and team performance
Financial & Operational Stewardship
• Develop and manage operating and capital budgets aligned to strategic objectives
• Lead labor management, productivity optimization, and premium pay oversight
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities while maintaining clinical excellence and access
External & Community Engagement
• Develop strategic relationships that strengthen referral networks and community partnerships
• Monitor external trends including regulatory changes, reimbursement models, and competitive dynamics
• Position emergency services to adapt to evolving healthcare delivery models
Required
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Master’s Degree (Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Business, or related field)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Texas or compact eligible)
• 5+ years of recent Director-level Emergency Services leadership experience
• Experience leading emergency departments within Level I or Level II trauma-capable environments
• Demonstrated success managing large, multi-site emergency services operations
Preferred
• Executive-level emergency services leadership experience
• Strong background in service line growth, physician engagement, and operational transformation
