Location: Nampa, ID
Schedule: Monday–Friday (off early on Fridays • no weekend work)
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role
Dealers Auto Auction of Idaho is seeking a detail-oriented Vehicle Inspector to join our fast-paced wholesale auto auction team. This role is responsible for accurately evaluating incoming vehicles for condition, safety concerns, mechanical operation, and equipment to ensure clear, reliable listings for dealers and buyers.
Key Responsibilities
Perform detailed inspections of vehicles upon arrival, including exterior, interior, and mechanical condition
Evaluate vehicles for safety-related concerns, drivability issues, and overall road worthiness
Identify and document engine noises, transmission noises, and drivability concerns, understanding how different transmission types (automatic, CVT, manual, dual-clutch) should operate and feel
Accurately identify and pinpoint fluid leaks (engine oil, transmission, coolant, power steering, brake, differential) using proper automotive terminology for estimation accuracy
Identify and report frame damage, paintwork, prior repairs, and mechanical concerns
Verify VIN numbers, mileage, and installed equipment (navigation, backup cameras, etc.)
De-equip prior law enforcement vehicles (removal of lights, sirens, decals, mounts, etc.)
Accurately record inspection findings using a tablet or handheld inspection software
Communicate inspection results clearly with managers, mechanics, and sales staff
Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment
Qualifications
Prior experience in automotive inspection, reconditioning, or mechanical work preferred
Strong attention to detail, especially when identifying safety concerns and mechanical issues
Working knowledge of vehicle systems, components, and common failure points
Ability to distinguish normal vs. abnormal engine and transmission operation
Familiarity with automotive terminology used for inspections and repair estimates
Comfortable using tablets or mobile inspection software
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Pay & Benefits
$18–$29 per hour (DOE)
Off early on Fridays
No weekend work
