We are seeking a motivated individual to fill the position of VAT Accountant in our Rotterdam office on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension subject to performance and business requirements.
Responsibilities
Maintain compliance scheme for International and European regulations of VAT
Provide periodic training and workshops for the global business units on VAT matters, create presentations and e-learning materials
Support logistics personnel daily regarding VAT related matters by analysing VAT situations to determine correct VAT treatment
Liaise with local VAT advisors for compliance and advisory matters
Liaise with VAT warehouses for records needed for VAT compliance
Liaise with local customs offices for records needed for VAT compliance
Handle the registration of new VAT numbers and provide advise on registration matters
Work with JDE to reconcile VAT accounts and make accounting entries related to VAT
Analyse VAT situations to determine correct VAT treatment
Work with other departments to enhance export or import procedures and Tax/VAT compliance
Strong knowledge of the Dutch (all European) VAT and Tax regulations
Preparing accounts audits
Work in conjunction with our Operations, VAT and Finance accounts across our global network
Prepare, fill out and review VAT returns and Environmental taxes
Tax Compliance; Legal investigations, preparation of files on corporate taxation
Preparing and filling VAT returns.
Qualifications
Candidates should be educated to degree level or equivalent
Finished Batchelor degree plus work experience or higher
Proficiency in: Dutch & English verbal and writing
Strong team player on the floor and internationally
Inclusive character in handling and behaviour
Experience
High knowledge of financial accounting
High knowledge and experience working with VAT in Europe
Numerical, organisational and analytical skills. Presentation and report writing skills. IT skills, including using AI, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Knowledge of business practices of various VAT schemes in Europe
Experience working within a multinational trading and logistics environment
