Our Hamilton Branch is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Valve Technician to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for the refurbishment, overhaul, maintenance and testing of a wide range of valves including ball, gate, butterfly, control and safety relief valves.  Your work will support diverse clients across petrochemical, industrial and energy sectors.
Key responsibilities include:
• Carry out valve refurbishments & overhauls
• Repair and test various valves, including but not limited to ball valves, gate valves, butterfly valves, safety relief valves, etc.
• Undertake Valve examinations, maintenance and repair
• Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, measuring, reassembly and testing of valves.
• Follow all schematics and documented procedures in accordance with all Quality Control and ASME National Board standards that apply to the job.
• Thoroughly complete all calibration and documentation associated with testing and repairs.
• Adhere to all safe working practices, look after yourself and those around you.
What You’ll Bring
• Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Fitter & Turner
• A keen interest in engineering with at 3+ years engineering experience
• 2+ years valve-specific work
• A thorough understanding of API 526/527 standards
• Must have knowledge of Valve maintenance including Block, Ball, Gate, Control and Relief valves
• Mechanical understanding of tools, machinery and orifice measurements
• Petrochemical industry experience (ideally 5+ years)
• Knowledge of gasket assembly, bolting and compression
• Current, clean NZ driver’s licence
• NZ residency or valid NZ work visa
