Job Title: Value Stream Manager – Equipment Production Division
Location: Germfree Laboratories, LLC, Ormond Beach, Florida
Reports To: VP of Manufacturing
Position Overview:
Germfree Laboratories is seeking an experienced Equipment Value Stream Manager to lead the operational performance of our standard and custom equipment manufacturing value streams.
This role is responsible for converting engineering designs and customer orders into fully assembled, tested, and shipped equipment, ensuring performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, and Cost (SQDPC).
The Value Stream Manager owns execution from materials release through mechanical assembly, electrical integration, testing, and final shipment while driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate combines technical depth with operational leadership, bringing experience in complex equipment-built environments along with strong Lean manufacturing and problem-solving capabilities. This leader will work cross-functionally with engineering, supply chain, quality, and program management to ensure reliable execution of Germfree’s standard and custom equipment lines.
Key Responsibilities:
Value Stream Leadership - Lead and manage the equipment manufacturing value stream, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality operations across:
Mechanical assembly
Electrical integration
System testing and validation
Production scheduling and execution
Drive performance across:
Safety
Quality
Delivery
Productivity
Cost
Drive reliable production execution by:
Managing build schedules and manufacturing flow
Ensuring schedule adherence and project milestone delivery
Identifying and removing constraints that impact throughput
Coordinating with project and program teams to ensure delivery commitments are met
Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement - Lead Lean manufacturing initiatives to improve operational performance including:
Kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives
5S implementation and workplace organization
Waste elimination and flow improvements
Development of standard work and process discipline
Visual management and performance monitoring
Apply structured problem-solving methodologies to resolve operational issues and prevent recurrence.
Cross-Functional Leadership - Collaborate closely with:
Engineering – resolving design issues and supporting design-for-manufacturability
Supply Chain – ensuring material availability and supplier performance
Quality – improving first-pass yield and reducing rework
Program / Project Management – supporting build milestones and project execution
Ensure alignment between engineering design, supply chain readiness, and manufacturing execution.
Production Flow Optimization - Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in production flow and implement corrective actions to improve:
Throughput
Labor productivity
Build cycle time
Schedule reliability
Use value stream mapping and operational analysis to drive process improvements.
Team Leadership - Lead and develop supervisors, technicians, and operators within the value stream by:
Building strong frontline leadership
Mentoring team members and developing operational capability and bench
Creating a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
New Product Introduction - Support new product introduction and engineering initiatives by:
Participating in design-for-manufacturability reviews
Ensuring smooth transition from engineering to manufacturing – strong collaboration with PMO
Supporting process development and building readiness
Success Metrics:
Performance will be measured through improvements in:
On-time equipment delivery
Schedule adherence
First-pass yield and rework reduction
Labor productivity and margin execution
Value stream throughput and lead time
Safety performance
Qualifications:
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field preferred, technical background is ideal.
7–10 years of manufacturing leadership experience
Experience in complex equipment manufacturing or mechanical/electrical assembly environments. Knowledge of metal fabrication is a plus.
Strong Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience – ability to operate in a Lean Daily Management system
Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills
Preferred Experience
Experience with capital equipment, modular equipment, or engineered-to-order products
Exposure to project-based manufacturing environments (ETO) as well as make-to-order (MTO) and make-to-stock (MTS).
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production planning tools
Plus experience in industries such as:
Medical device or pharmaceutical equipment manufacturing
Aerospace manufacturing
Defense or high-reliability equipment manufacturing
Cleanroom or regulated manufacturing environments
