UX/UI Designer (Contractor)

About The Job

We are looking to recruit a UX/UI Designer to join us on fast moving, innovative and influential work that is underway in the Defence and Security Sector.  

Key Responsibilities

Conduct user research through usability testing, and data analysis to understand user behaviours and needs.

Translate research insights into user journeys, personas, wireframes, and prototypes.

Design intuitive interfaces that align with brand guidelines and accessibility standards.

Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to define requirements and refine solutions.

Create high‑fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes using industry‑standard tools.

Iterate on designs based on feedback, testing results, and performance metrics.

Contribute to and maintain design systems, ensuring consistency across products.

Stay current with design trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in UI/UX.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong understanding of user‑centered design principles and methodologies.

Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.

Experience with component based design (React).

Experience designing interfaces for mapping, navigation, and/or planning software

Ability to create dashboards, user flows, and interactive prototypes.

Solid visual design skills, including layout, typography, and color theory.

Experience conducting or supporting user research and usability testing.

Ability to present and explain design decisions clearly.

A portfolio demonstrating UI/UX design work and problem‑solving approach.
