Yahoo serves as a trusted guide for hundreds of millions of people globally, helping them achieve their goals online through our portfolio of iconic products. For advertisers, Yahoo Advertising offers omnichannel solutions and powerful data to engage with our brands and deliver results. About Yahoo Yahoo serves hundreds of millions of people globally through iconic products across communications, content, and commerce, while Yahoo Advertising provides omni-channel solutions powered by data to deliver results for partners. A little about the team Research & Insights champions user‑centered decisions across design, product, and engineering. We sit alongside teams, deliver fast, actionable insights, and create mechanisms that help product squads and designers learn early and often. About the role This is a hands-on role focused on rapid evaluative testing—quick, high‑signal studies that help design teams make confident product decisions in days, not weeks. You’ll plan and execute unmoderated studies, lightweight moderated usability tests, surveys, and benchmarks on prototypes and live experiences, then synthesize findings into crisp, decision‑ready recommendations. What you’ll do Scope quick‑turn learning goals with partners and translate them into the right usability tests, surveys, or heuristic evaluations. Build screeners and recruit participants (with Research Ops support and/or panels), manage consent and research ethics, and keep data tidy and compliant. Create test plans, task scenarios, and success criteria; run moderated and unmoderated sessions for prototypes and in‑product flows. Analyze behavioral signals (e.g., task success/error patterns, time‑on‑task, SUS/CSAT), synthesize qualitative observations, and connect the dots to product decisions. Deliver concise readouts: key findings, recommendations, severity/impact, and next‑step hypotheses; share clips/visuals that tell the story. Maintain templates, checklists, and a small research library of prior tests and benchmarks to speed future cycles. Partner closely with Designers, PMs, and Data/Analytics to align on measures, run quick A/B test follow‑ups, and iterate based on evidence. What you’ll bring 3+ years experience doing hands-on evaluative UX research in product settings or with real users. Working knowledge of moderated/unmoderated usability, survey design, and basic descriptive statistics (e.g., rates, means, confidence cues). Familiarity with prototype testing (e.g., Figma flows), task design, and avoiding bias in prompts and facilitation. Clear, concise communication—strong at prioritizing what matters, framing trade‑offs, and writing decision‑oriented summaries. Comfort operating in fast cycles, handling multiple requests, and staying organized with excellent attention to detail. Commitment to accessibility, privacy, and inclusive research practices. Experience with one or more of the following platforms: UserTesting, UserZoom, Lookback, Maze, Optimal Workshop, Qualtrics/SurveyMonkey, Dovetail, Airtable. Bonus points Exposure to A/B testing or experimentation basics and how UX findings complement behavioral data. Building highlight reels, lightweight dashboards, or benchmarking scorecards. Knowledge of web/mobile UX patterns for content, communications, or commerce products. Project or program management skills Tools you might use here Figma (prototypes), UserTesting/Lookback/Maze (studies), Qualtrics/Forms (surveys), Dovetail/Airtable (analysis/ops), productivity and documentation tools. How we work We run frequent, small learning sprints tied to specific design or launch decisions. We publish short, repeatable artifacts (templates, checklists, benchmarks) to raise quality and speed. We meet teams where they are—sometimes fully supported, sometimes enabling self-serve with quality guardrails. In your first 90 days, you will Ship several quick‑turn studies (prototype and live‑site) with crisp insights and recommendations. Stand up or improve screeners, tasks, and readout templates for repeatability. Partner with research operations and design on a simple benchmark for a core flow and establish a baseline for iterate‑and‑learn. Qualifications: Education: BA/BS in HCI, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Information Science, Human Factors, or related experience. Equivalent practical experience welcomed. Portfolio: Examples that show your process for a usability/survey study, what you learned, and how it influenced a decision. Equal Opportunity Yahoo is an equal opportunity employer.
