We are looking to add a Shallow Utilities, Directional Driller/Locator to our team!
Position Title: Utilities Driller/Locator
Reports to: Utility Manager
Department: Utilities
Work Location: Red Deer
Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Utility Manager, the Driller/Locator is responsible for reading utility locates and completing drilling services. The position may also be responsible for manual labour to assist with project completion.
Duties & Responsibilities
Complete directional drilling as per drill plans
Transport drilling equipment to and from the location and set up / tear down drilling equipment on site
Read utility locates and confirm tickets to actual found services. Read and interpret drawings, locates or diagrams, and perform required work
Executing field projects according to instructions provided by the client, project manager, and the field supervisor
Drill to specifications on the locates in accordance with the designated bore path
Ensure the safe operation of directional drills without supervision
Fuel, grease, and daily maintenance of equipment
Report any repair issues or equipment hazards immediately to the supervisor
Communicate any unsafe conditions or incidents and near misses to the Supervisor in a timely manner; and
Other general duties, as required.
Compliance, Health and Safety Support:
Lead by example and promote a culture of safety and environmental protection in the workplace.
Ensure adherence to KBL’s Health and Safety Management System by having a good knowledge of safe work standards, policies, and procedures relevant to the facility and the work performed by facility personnel
Adhere to all applicable safe work practices, safe operating procedures, and safety specifications detailed in equipment manuals and manufacturer’s specifications.
Participate in toolbox meetings.
Physical Requirements
There may be a requirement to stand for extended periods of time
Able to lift 50 lbs. minimum.
Work Environment
There can be exposure to extreme weather.
There can be exposure to dust, noise, mud, water, smoke, and bacteria.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 to 5 years experience operating a directional drill;
Valid Class 5 License minimum, with Class 3 or 1 preferred;
Ground Disturbance Level 2, Standard First Aid
Experience adhering to health and safety requirements.
Reliable: show up on-time and be fit for work.
Position requires a high level of initiative and a positive attitude, including willingness to tackle new tasks or duties outside of this description; and
Professional when dealing with customers, KBL staff and subtrades/suppliers.
