• Support research operations such as planning and scheduling user research sessions for ClinicalTrials.gov and SRA, including interviews, usability testing, and feedback sessions with researchers, clinicians, data submitters, and members of the public.

• Recruit and communicate with participants across a wide range of biomedical and technical backgrounds, ensuring clear instructions and smooth session logistics.

• Manage consent, scheduling, session documentation, and research records in alignment with federal and NIH policies.

Data Collection and Synthesis

• Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data from user sessions, surveys, support inquiries, and other feedback channels related to ClinicalTrials.gov and SRA.

• Synthesize research findings into actionable insights, identifying usability issues, workflow challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

• Translate complex user feedback into clear themes, summaries, and evidence-based recommendations that support product roadmaps and policy-aligned decisions.

• Collaborate with UX designers, developers, product owners, and subject-matter experts across NCBI to ensure research findings are effectively integrated into system enhancements.

User Feedback Dashboard (Power BI)

• Design, build, and maintain a Power BI user feedback dashboard to track trends and key insights across ClinicalTrials.gov and SRA.

• Integrate multiple data sources (e.g., survey data, session findings, usage metrics, support trends) into a unified reporting view.

• Define and monitor UX and research-related indicators such as common user pain points, task success signals, satisfaction trends, and recurring submission or search issues.

• Ensure dashboards are accurate, accessible, and understandable for diverse stakeholders, including scientific, technical, and program leadership audiences.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication

• Present research findings and dashboard insights to cross-functional teams within NCBI and NIH.

• Support transparent, evidence-based decision-making by clearly communicating user needs, constraints, and impacts.

• Respond to ad hoc research and reporting requests related to ClinicalTrials.gov and SRA user experience and usability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with scientific, biomedical, or public-sector information systems.

• Familiarity with the user-centered approaches such as human-centered design and development and Design Thinking or Experience Design.

• Familiarity with UX research methods such as usability testing, interviews, surveys, and mixed-methods analysis.

• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (design, development, policy, and domain experts).

• Knowledge of accessibility, plain language, and usability considerations for public-facing federal websites.

Required skills and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Information Science, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Experience conducting or supporting UX research activities in complex, data-rich systems.

• Experience developing dashboards and reports using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.

• Strong analytical and synthesis skills, with the ability to communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills.

• Data visualization and dashboard design

• Attention to detail in complex regulatory and scientific contexts

• Cross-functional collaboration in a matrixed environment
